North South History Project

North South Professional Development Partnership 2016 /2017

The Professional Development Service for Teachers (PDST) and the School Development Service (SDS) in co-operation with the Institute of Art, Design & Technology (IADT) and Armagh Multi Media Access (AMMA), are delighted to celebrate a cross border collaborative partnership project

“Different lenses: Exploring History narratives on the island of Ireland through the medium of digital literacy”

Six schools from the South of Ireland and six schools from the North of Ireland have participated in a History project where each have produced a short film depicting a key historical event through the lens of moving-image literacy using digital technology. The project has focussed strongly on the development of the essential skills of communication and teamwork as well as providing valuable linkage opportunities with other curricular subjects.

To celebrate this partnership project and the work that has been undertaken by the 12 participating schools, SDS was delighted to host a national showcase event on Monday 27 March 2017 where all 12 films were screened in the Market Place Theatre, Armagh.

The Twitter hashtag for this project and event is   #storiesnorthsouth
