Fís Film Project Awards 2018

FÍS is a fantastic film project for primary schools that explores film as a medium of expression in relation to the arts, and introduces children to aspects of the film-making process. The project has succeeded in helping children to develop essential skills in moving-image literacy, communication and teamwork. Teachers tell us that the children develop additional skills in problem-solving, critical thinking, investigation and analysis. Both teachers and children find the experience enriching and rewarding.

The FÍS Film Awards ceremony is filmed like a live TV broadcast by students of the National Film School at IADT as part of their college learning experience. So, it’s a unique day where primary pupils and third-level students all come together.

The FÍS Film Project continues to be delivered by the FÍS Office at the Institute of Art, Design & Technology and PDST Technology in Education.

Starting with the red carpet arrival and wrapping following a fantastic cinematic experience from a super talented pool of schools, the FÍS Film Awards 2018 were held on Wednesday, 14th November at The Helix where the event was launched by PDST National Director, Ciara O'Donnell with Winning Streak's Sinead Kennedy as MC.

The standard of entries was superb and congratulations to the winners of the Aileen MacKeogh FÍS Film of the Year Award 2018 which was won by St Gerard's School, Bray, Co Wicklow with 'When You Wash Upon A Star!'
