AMGEN Teach

Amgen Teach aims to deepen student interest and achievement in Science by strengthening the ability of life science secondary school teachers to use inquiry-based teaching strategies in the classroom. Amgen Teach uses training workshops and distance learning events to provide educators with the skills and confidence necessary to transform the student experience in learning Science.

We would like to invite you to participate in the European Amgen Teach initiative. This is an exciting opportunity to participate in a series of professional development workshops for the Sciences.  These workshops offer teachers upskilling in areas that are in line with new developments in Science education in Ireland.

George Boole (1815 - 1864)

 

November 2nd 2015 is the 200th anniversary year of  George Boole’s birthday.

Cork Education Support Centre on behalf of  ATECI, in conjunction with UCC  and with the help of NAPD, IPPN,PDST, IOP and with generous support from EMC are planning to have every school student in the country doing a lesson based on the work of George Boole on that day.

SCIENTIX NATIONAL CONFERENCE

 

 

Our first Scientix National Conference for Agricultural Science took place on the 22nd November in the University of Limerick. It was a hands on practical day and over 100 teachers were in attendance on the day. Thanks to all who attended and made it such a great day. 

An overview of the day can be seen below.

 

 

 

George Dennis performed a  demonStration of the Gerber Test for the Butterfat Content of Milk.

This and other videos including a full dissection of a sheep and pig ruminant and monogastric disection, performed by  Teagasc in Mercy Secondary School, Kilbeggan,  for Leaving Certificate Students, was made available at the spring ag science course.
